ASTOR STREET RESIDENCE

A landmark building in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago is returned to it original use with a contemporary interior. Two subtly curving forms, one in plan, one in section, collaborate to render a tangible center of gravity to a large home.

Developer and General Contractor was the Kissner Company.

Elevation

Situated adjacent to an alley, this Gold Coast facade was restored to near original condition.

Section

The section illustrates the central skylight with the curving form below which shrouds the study from the stair behind. The study enjoys an oasis of southern light provided by the alley to the south.
