CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT
PROTOTYPICAL POOL ENCLOSURE
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 1990

Designed as a prototype for the Chicago Park District, this structure makes use of a fabric enclosure for daylighting and as a reflector/deflector for nightlighting. The single south facing glass wall allows for solar warming of the interior.

Perspective - Daytime

The subtle curves of the south facing facade, formed by the rigid trichord trusses free-spanning the interior, recall a wave pattern.

Perspective - Night

The transluscent fabric becomes a beacon for the park at night. During the day, the fabric allows natural daylighting for the interior.
