PRIVATE RESIDENCE

This project entailed the remodeling to a condominium apartment in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The major focus of the project was the transformation of a dark labyrinthine maid's quarters into a light filled open kitchen and family room area.

Minor work was done to the existing formal rooms of the residence, with the exception of the library which was gutted and rebuilt.

Library

Situated with a corner view on Lincoln Park, the library palette was kept light and airy.

Kitchen

Backlit by a glass window with graduated sandblasted bands, the range hood floats amongst the dark granite countertops and cherry cabinets.

Monitor

The monitor sits atop the family room and illuminates the otherwise dark interior of the former maid's quarters. The monitor lets daylight in while screening the view of surrounding high-rises.

Family Room

The design of the family room was constrained by the existing exterior window locations and plumbing stacks which served the former maids quarters.
