MATHER LIFEWAYS SENIOR CAFE NORWOOD PARK NEIGHBORHOOD CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 2001

This facility is the second in a series completed for Mather Lifeways, an Evanston based not-for-profit that advocates for the senior population. Located in a 3,600sf storefront located in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago, the facility serves as a neighborhood based administrative outpost as well as a senior services center.

The senior services, which include computer classes, medical assistance, financial counselling, and exercise classes, are offered in the context of a café.

Cafe Interior

Analine-dyed wood fiber clouds hover over cafe tables. Computer stations are marked by the backlit blue walls to the left. The shadow box tables are repeated from the first cafe.

Entry

A cork covered volume encircles the greeter near the front door. A shadow box writing table masks the greeters desk beyond.

Multipurpose Room

A royal blue theatrical drape can be pulled across the opening with the cafe, giving the room privacy during special functions such as exercise classes and lectures.

Exterior at Night
