A foreign embassy, with a labyrinthine plan, was gutted and converted to a residential apartment. The apartment was developed with a simplified traditional vocabulary.

A built in bench provides an intimate setting for the breakfast table.

Simply detailed cabinets defer to the stenciled wood floor.

Entry Hall

The intense colors of the walls are contrasted by the newly poured and polished black terrazzo floor.

Library

Bookshelves and panelling were constructed of solid resawn southern heart pine.

Living Room

The living room was rendered with traditional furnishings and a cool palette. Architectural details are kept simple and elegant.
